  QUESTION:

Hi there! Really enjoy your playing. Here's my question(sort of) I saved some money and got a really good deal on a used Jackson RR1(v) and a Marshall vs100 amp. I have been playing for years and took great care in refining my playing on junk gear before the Jackson and Marshall buy. I have a good pal that has also been playing as long as I but not putting the time in practice wise. He makes a ton of money and owns a newer Jackson RR and a new Line6 amp system and about 10 or more pedals..when we jam together, he goes nuts trying to get the sound and tones that I achieve through my playing habits and gear. I just broke down and told him " Look man, drop the garbage...learn to play clean and tighten up your technique a bit...then, start working with the umpteen stomp boxes you have...that stuff don't make you a better player... anyway, he's not talking to me anymore. Was I wrong to tell him this...?

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

Ha!! You were certainly right on the money! Whether or not you should have told him, I don`t know...Possibly rather than telling him, leading by example would have been better?
