  QUESTION:

Hey Mr. Friedman. First of all I'd just like to say (as many others do) that your music is awesome. I 'play' guitar and I noticed that when I practiced with any band I was in that I got bored really quickly. I felt the rest of the band were looking to me to tell them what to do, and I'm not that good a musician. Every band I'm in fails to stick together, is that my fault? Have you any tips on keeping motivated/concentrated at practice? And why did they always look to me to tell them what to do? Thanks -Dagu

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

If you`re in a small town, get out and go to a major city, people tend to be more motivated in major cities. You are likely the best musician of the bunch you are playing with. It`s like playing tennis or chess with a crappy opponent. Surround yourself with better musicians.
