  Title : Questions for Marty

  QUESTION:

Hi Marty. I`m a Canadian guitarist married to a Japanese woman. We are considering making the move to Japan. I was wondering what kind of opportunities there are in Tokyo for foreign musicians. I don`t yet speak Japanese that well. Any advice would be most helpful.

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

This is like saying, "I don`t speak, read or write English but what kind of opportunities are there for foreign musicians in Canada?" In reality it doesn`t matter how good of a player you are if you can`t communicate with not only musicians, but the other people you would have to deal with on a daily basis. Think of the amount of work you have had to do be a musician in Canada, then consider doing it without speaking English. Sorry for the negative response, but better now than later! Best of luck.
