  QUESTION:

Hello, Marty. Please, help me! I want to do music for a living... but my drummer doesn't want that. However, we are friends. I can't seem to go play with people just as profession... there's got to be friendship. I've seen others in a situation like that. How do you deal with this friendship/professionalism situation??

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

There are astronomical odds against anyone who wants to make music for a living. By saying "there's got to be friendship" you are cutting down your already slim chance of meeting people/musicians who can help you achieve your goals even more. Is that what you want to do?
