  Title : Avoiding?!

  QUESTION:

What do you think of artists who avoid the fans? I went to a concert yesterday of this punk band from the US. After the last song, they like tip-toed into the van with windows covered by curtains and made of black glass and got away of us fans (around 30 people). I already have my opinion, which is: bands can't have one gig to play without the fans. So there is a responsability or even a consideration aspect. Still, I want to know what do you think about this, since you've been successful worldwide. Thank you in advance.

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

Good Q- Yes there is a responsibility to the fans. That responsibility is to make music and to show up and play a concert. That`s it. Anything above that is strictly a bonus. Some musicians like to spend more time with fans than others. Often it`s best not to meet or get to know your fave musicians, there is no way that musician can return the intimacy you have felt listening to his or her music so you are bound to be let down in some way. Don`t be disappointed, unless the concert sucked!
