  QUESTION:

Hi Marty, I just caught the episode of Rock Fujiyama with Demon Kogure in it, and I almost wet my pants because I'm a huge fan of the both of you! My question is why do you think that bands in Japan, even with ones like Demon K's old band Seikima-II, always seem to draw in (a lot) more female fans than male fans? If Seikima-II was an American band I just can't see them attracting anywhere near the amount of female fans.

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

This is a good Q. Bands like Merry and Mucc are unbelievably heavy and dark and loud and yet the concerts are about 98% female. When I toured with Kirito it was the same thing. This is a phenomenon that only exists in Japan, particularly in "Visual Kei" music. I believe that guys like the music too but they are shy to be the `only guy` in a sea of females...That`s why some bands have `guys only` concerts.
