  QUESTION:

Hello Marty, I really admire your music and your humble style since I was at high school. Today I'm over thirty years old and I still enjoy the same listening to your material. By chance, I recently added a jackson ke-1 to my collection and really loved the simplicity despite the kahler bridge :) I'm thinking of inheriting it to my son as soon as he grows old to handle a guitar. My question is, how do you feed creative side? I am an investment banker and I love my job but honestly I can't bear to hear anything that relates to work besides working hours. How can you seperate listening to the music for pleasure and for work? Let me put it this way: can you listen to the music without looking it in a professional way? I also would like to know if you have ever heard of an example of turkish folk music? Sometimes I find many similarities between your style and some old turkish songs. Kind regards Kemal

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

I just happen to live and breathe music. I`m so often working on my own music that I consider listening to other people`s music a luxury, which I enjoy very much. I have listened to some Turkish folk music and have emulated the melodies at times.
