Hi Marty, I play in a band that travels alot, 6 nights a week, 3 month contracts at a time, 9-11 months of the year, mostly in asia and the mid east..My question to you is really two questions. Firstly, when you're on the road, do you get bored of playing the same stuff, does it do your head in sometimes just to even look at the guitar? I really love playing music dont get me wrong, is it just a symptom of playing other peoples music night after night? Secondly, do you think its wise to compromise your musical belief, join a band that isnt exactly what you want to do, but will hopefully better promote you in the future, and in the mean time put $ in your pocket? Ive been playing guitar for over 20 years and ive found its a soak on my creativity to play covers, but i cant seem to make the leap to the next level..any thoughts?? cheers |

Making a living with music is really rare and something you should be extremely thankful for. Next level? If you believe in the music you can create, make an investment in yourself and give up your secure gig (at least partially), pay out your own money and record your music, put together an original project, play live, etc. and get ready to work your ass off and make fans one person at a time. Good luck-! |
