If it were as easy as turning knobs to get someones`s sound, wouldn`t everyone be already doing it? Everyone take note---there is NO ONE SETTING that gets any particular tone! In many cases, during the course of recording any single part (a solo passage, riff, rhythm, anything) the knobs on the amp AS WELL as any pedals, outboard gear or the guitar itself, likely have been turned and adjusted MANY times, even during the course of the passage being recorded. There are many more varaibles too; amp mics and micing distance, room construction, kind of cabs, speakers, etc. On top of that, you can have the EXACT same settings for ALL of those things and more on one day and the very next day with everything set the same, it all sounds different. This drives engineers crazy. BOTTOM LINE--settings change all the time. Spend less time chasing tones and more time just playing music. Believe me, play long enough and your favorite tone will come naturally. |
