Hello marty, you are a truly great guitarist! I was just wondering whether I have the potential to be just as good. A few years ago I started taking guitar lessons. I was with the teacher for just over a year but about 8 months in with the lessons I started to lose interest. I hardly touched the guitar again for the next 2 years, but about 7 or 8 months ago I picked it up again and started practicing very hard. and I feel I have started to get some impressive shred together in the styles of yourself, Kirk Hammett, Paul Gilbert, Van Halen ect. I would just like to know whether you think I have got what it takes to be just as good as you and them if I keep practicing very hard over the next few years.

Next few years won`t cut it. If you need to ask someone whether you should continue or not, that`s not a great sign. If you take the pressure off yourself and play as a hobby when you feel like it, you may enjoy it more. Good luck.
