  Title : HELP ME !

  QUESTION:

Hi Marty ! you're truly one of my favorite guitarist, and I just want to ask you something... I have some back problems... and it made me quit college (in jazz guitar), but I also quit because I was self-taught and I didn't really know all the scales & modes on the top of my fingers ! and this "lack" of pratical theory was frustating me because I wasn't as good as the others was in improvisation... but my technique was really good...

SO my question is... How can I REALLY remember a scale to add my technical skills to it and the emotions underneath (that I really feel when I play some "sorrowful" stuff) ?

In another words, how can I change the "shool" view of it ?!

... and I also think that one of my problems is my lack of confidence...

Please Help Me !

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

Being self-taught has a few pluses and tons of minuses. Get a teacher and work hard doing exactly what he says. Then and only then you may want to self teach yourself.
