Title : Get the Balance in School

  QUESTION:

Hey Marty I was wondering when your grew up in school you obviously spent alot of time playing but what I wanted to know is how did other aspects like school and study etc fit in or did they? I spend alot of my time playing but now am forced to seriously cut down the time spent on guitar for school! Did you ever have this problem? I have yet to find a real guitar hero who was excellent at school as well? Many of them just forgot about school and spent all their time on guitar? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

I was pretty good at school, but it bored me to tears, so I basically did just enough school work to graduate and spent the rest of my time playing music with my band and living the band life. I say play as much music as you want, but you have to at least graduate high school (preferably college) because you must have something solid to fall back up on, and more importantly because even if you become a fabulous and amazing musician, if you are uneducated you will be taken advantage of and eaten alive by the music biz.
