Title : Hey.. Technique used on HMS

  QUESTION:

Hello Marty

I have a question about one of your guitar techniques. I am a Canadian fan, and downloaded an episode of HebiMetaSan online, and I noticed that when you play guitar and do some huge bends, you use either a ring finger or pinky and you pluck the strings again while still doing the bends. I haven't noticed this technique in old Megadeth and Cacophony footage, so I guess it must be somewhat recent, and I was just wondering what the purpose of this was, and how you incorprate it into your style. I understand that it carries on the note longer, and adds an extra attack on the note, but It would seem to be something that wouldnt be used that much, yet you use it REALLY often on HebiMeta San.. So im curious on if you kind of just got into the habbit of using it on all your bends to add some "extra flavor" or if there is maybe a purpose that my ears can not pick up. Thanks

You pretty much got it. I`ve been doing that probably forever, it`s just that on the show I do lots of adlibbing and I guess thats when it happens the most. Hitting the strings with your right hand gives melodies and solos a human and aggressive sound.
