  Title : The 99 Licks...

  QUESTION:

Hi Marty,

I've just received your latest '99 licks' DVD and think its excellent. It's gonna be great to use the licks to add a different feel and some fresh ideas to my playing and especially solos. Thanks.

But what I wanted to know is -

Do you know all 99 guitar licks perfectly yourself? i.e. If I were to ask you for lick no. 38, could you play it from memory?

Its gonna be useful for me to nail as many as I can to build up my repertoire for solos.

Keep up the good work.

Rob.

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

Good question, the answer is obviously no, that would be like memorizing the dictionary. But if I saw (or heard) any of the licks just once I could immediately play it. And I could come up with another 99 and another 99 with no sweat. I`m sure that if you went to the effort of learning all the patterns on the dvd, you will be able to create plenty of your own new patterns as well. Good luck.
