Hi Marty,
Please consider recording your next solo album in pure analog.
Since you say you have the best resources available, please use analog. Unfortunately it is the market's perception that digital
is better than analog, and as long as that is the case, musicians like yourself think they are giving consumers a better product by
recording in digital. Digital technology is based on lousy mathematics. Analog is more true to the spirit of the music. If you are
not recording live in the studio at least use an analog 24-track tape recorder like a Studer A827 and use a 2-track analog tape
recorder like an Ampex ATR-102 for mixing. Finally don't forget to release a vinyl version of your next solo album. Don't record
in digital just because Johnny Sixpack expects you to record in digital.
Best wishes,
Komrad Jensen |

I
agree with you that for the most part (especially rock) analog sounds better than digital, that`s why I always use both in my
recordings. I must say though, that I doubt Johnny Sixpack cares about the medium with which the cds he buys were recorded. There
is hope though! There is technology that can compensate so that we can enjoy the sound of analog with the convenience of digital.
The future is now, so let`s enjoy! |
