my friend tyler and i have recently
been introduced to this site and have been eagerly reading all of the posts that you have been answering. we have a complaint! in
more than one of your answers you have advised against learning and even practicing the sweeping technique. we both greatly favor
this technique and were wondering..... what the fuck?!!? both you and jason frequently used sweeping in your solo albums as well as
in cacophony..... so obviously YOU use it. secondly you said that it was not relevent for doing anything in studios. not all
guitarists are playing to make it big in the studios.... if we wanted that we could just play a bunch of powerchords and be like
the nonsense bands of today like greenday or slipknot, orgood charlotte........ take your pick, none of them have talent yet THEY
get plenty of record deals...... furthermore you said sweeping wasnt unique, personally we feel that sweeping is the sacred
tequnique of all great guitarists. please respond, this was not meant to offend.... kinda, just to let you know our feelings....
kinda... joey and tyler ahahahhhhha aa ahhh haha ah (says tyler) |

If you like the sound of some kind of playing, by
all means, learn how to do it!! My opinion is certainly not the be all end all of how you play. You have to make those decisions
yourself! By all means, sweep to your hearts content. Some advice tho-hard guitar techniques can be mastered by anyone. But being
able to create songs that entertain millions is much harder! Being able to keep a good band together for more than a few months is
even harder! The earlier you comprehend this the quicker you will make your first step away from being an amateur on the long road
to being a pro. |
