hey marty, I really need your help, you're really good at making people
feel good about themselves. Something pretty crappy has just hapened to me. I really love to play guitar, it makes me rexlaxed when
I'm tense and I play it all of time. I've really felt good with the music that I've been making/covering. Tonight (6/02/05) i
went to a place called "Salt Hill" for open mike night to play some of the songs that i like (which pretty much consist of anything
from Megadeth to Stevie Ray Vaughan, anything) and I got up on stage and started playing SRV's "testify", and the guy who runs the
open mike night came and turned my amp down so that I could barely hear it, after I was done with the song, the same guy came up to
me and told me to not play things like that or I'll scare away the people at the bar, now i was origanally gonna play just a huge
solo, which is now out of the question, or "Foreclosure of a Dream" which was also out of the question so I played another SRV song
called "Lenny", the same guy came up to me again and told me that I needed to get off. and I left. Do you think it's alright for
me to be really pissed or should I just forget about it. When he kicked me off stage, it was just the worst feeling in the world,
it feels like all i've acheived in playing guitar is just a waist of time knowing that my music is just gonna scare people away. i
hope you respond |

Welcome to rock and roll...This stuff happens. You just gotta get over it, the next experience will be better.
Maybe you were just too loud? Maybe this club and its customers are used to a different kind of music? To get over this, you need
to go to as many of these open mike things as you can. It`s good practice and will do much more good for your character than hours
and hours of practice in the bedroom. Good luck! |
