  QUESTION:

hey Marty,
I am 23 year old guitar player from los angeles who has now been living in tokyo for over a year. my training as a guitar player has been exstensive. and I have played in bands of all sorts of styles such as rock, jazz, or pop. I do play in a local band here in tokyo, however i want to get involved in the commercial music scene as well.
got any tips? are there agencies or companies that audition players for spots in commercial rock/pop bands out there? it is pretty rare to see a non-japanese person in a j-pop band. but i still had to ask 'ya!
thanks!
(love the new t.v. show man!)

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

There are no `agencies` for the purpose of getting people in bands, etc. but I would suggest just playing out as much as possible and continously expanding your network of people who know that you play well. Good luck.
