Hi
Marty,
I gotta say, I was blown away when I heard you play w/ Nanase Aikawa. My two primary musical tastes lie in metal and
jpop (mostly H!P stuff - Ayaya is great! - and Maaya Sakamoto). But it has always seemed like Jpop is virtually invisible in
America. Utada's latest has probably been the biggest breakout in the States, but it still seems like there isn't that much
interaction.
So my question is: Are there many American musicians that work with Jpop/Jrock artists? And second, have
you ever worked with American artists but in a jpop context?
BTW, i think it's really cool that you have this place to
really interact and talk with your fans
Take care!

I don`t know of any other Americans in J-pop,
other than some very good engineers. I`m sure there are musicians I don`t know of though. I did hear that Brian May and Richie
Sambora (separately) have worked with Japanese artists.
When I turn my American friends on to Ayaya or H!P stuff their first
reaction is that I have completely lost my mind, second reaction is that the stuff is genius... |
