Ok, I know, yet again it maybe sounds lika sick and repetitive, but… <>, and I think that no technique is more expressive and personal than “Hand VIBRATO”. In this way, all my fave guitar players have a really Personal, STRONG, Energizing and Exaggerated vibrato… you know what I’m talking about: singing notes just from the Guts, man!!. Dudes like Zakk Wylde, G.Moore, the Terrifiing Gilbert, Stevie Ray Vaughan or You; In fact, to me it’s lika “the Friedman Concept”.
So, just from the beginning I’ve been focused in develop my own vibrato this way, but there's a BIG problem with: it literally EATS the frets!!. After the years I own ‘some guitars’ now, with almost “no frets” at all on them today!. They all were “melted down” by my own hand. Man, this is a real problem to me, because I can’t afford a new good guitar each 6-8 months, and the most important thing: **I HATE those crappy-flat-frets, without Tone, muting the strings, buzzing all the time, and completely OUT of PITCH and TUNE.
##So please, tell me Marty: Due to your well-known aggressive playing… Does the same thing happens to you? and What are the feasible options about it? How often do you need to re-fret your guitars? …Or do you prefer to change to another new guitar when it happens?
(My own experience about re-fretting was just a Disastrous! -wrong technician, I suppose- and they irreversibly killed my guitar neck)##
I know A LOT of guitar players with this same problem. The same PAIN.
Thank you very much in deed… for all!!
My best wishes to you
Luis

I never heard of this! Sounds like you either have very acidic sweat, or you are REALLY playing a lot, I just don't know. Refretting is not the answer. I have no idea really, but I would maybe suggest getting a good solid guitar (no less than 500$US) and checking your left hand play. If it looks way different than other players, maybe you are just plain pressing down too hard? Good luck! |
