  Title : Improvisation?

  QUESTION:

Hey Marty,
This is cool.
I scanned a bunch of the other questions.
If it's really you answering, it's double cool.
I digress.
My question:
When you are preparing to do a solo within a song structure (Hangar 18, Tornado, Symphony, High Speed Dirt, Killing Road) are those solos:
A. Totally off the cuff
B. Off the cuff, but cut and pasted
C. Worked out in advance

Do you then transcribe for yourself?
With the volume of work to your credit, how else would you remember every note so flawlessly? I saw you live a number of times and your accuracy was a thing of beauty.

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

Thanx 4 the question.
1st question- A & C

2nd question- no transcribing, but I try to make melodies that I like, and if I like them it makes them all that much easier to remember them.
