  Title : Musical conundrum...

  QUESTION:

Hey Marty,
I was thinking this over with a few of my friends and I thought who better to ask for advice than my guitar hero.
So marty here's my situation:
I'm going off to college to do a course in music technology which will entail recording my own pieces and playing classical pieces etc.
I have to learn to sight read this summer for this course which I am slogging through.
My question to you is with musical theory ability and a music technology qualification under my belt where can my skills take me. I know it is naive to think that I can support myself by playing in a band. But I still want to end up doing what I love. Making music.
Where should I focus my ability?

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

Focus it on being able to make music that you enjoy so much that you would do it for nothing. I don't know a single musician who got into music 'for the money'.
