  QUESTION:

hey Marty!
Just wanted to say that that your guitar playing in "Nastymachine" and "0-7-2" is awesome. I'm a 20 year old struggling musician in Orlando FL, and I was just wondering if you could answer a few questions that "I" think are relevant. First, I was reading an interview with Al Dimeola, and he stated that not picking all of the notes when you play is "bad technique, and relying on amplification." You're style is very unique and original so I was wondering what your take is on that, since you said in your "Essential Marty Friedman" video that you aren't a very continous picker.

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

I honestly could care less about `proper` technique. If I have to use my foot to get the sound I`m looking for so be it. The only thing I care about is getting the sound in my head onto tape. Neither I or Al play like the other and that`s what makes music fun, the individuality.
