  QUESTION:

in the continual perssuit of being a completely original ,whell semi/original guitarist i come to a hold in wich my picking for example ,same s yours ,my feel as neoclassical/megadeth as it can get, my drive?my passion for playing what I want to hear...to play the sounds I wanna see come out of a guitar, in this quest that i've emerged myself into i've found that any alternattion as so as "creating your own scale" not having a set pattern for as such as your solos or picking ,not bending the conventional way ,etc etc what's the point!? ok , i know it must feel GREAT for you to kick pettrucci's ass and every other guitarist that comes in your way but...look deathbed from the dominican republic (we don't have a site yust yet) we have come to make 24 completely original melodic WHELL done songs but at the end of it all, if we don't find a good vocalist ...all that hard work whill yust ...
you get the point...then comes the lyrics and the vocals...and if isnt radio friendly and people don't like it all that hard work to make things diferent whill be lost ,the QUESTION IS wy even bother when we can make a real common but hit song, and make a lot of money? huh? please answer marty your the greatest and yes you do OWN every other guitarist that comes in your way...except Vai and May...

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

If it were easy to make a hit single and make 'all that money' everyone would do it. It's hard. Harder than sitting in front of a metronome and playing 16th notes at 200bpm.
You do make a lot of good points. So why bother? Only because you love to make music, and that you would do it for nothing given the chance. There is no other reason to make music in my opinion.
