  Title : Musician?

  QUESTION:

Although I've studied music as a private thing - I'm entirely self-taught and I understand all the modal scales theory and about scale-tone chords and all the rest, though I can't really read sheet music, but I still don't know whether it makes me a "Musician". I mean, I've been going to music seminars at the college I'm visiting in Germany and a lot of the time I don't understand a damn thing. I was wondering what you class as a musician? Thanks again - don't stop being who you are, dude, you're a real inspiration!

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

Musician=one who makes music. It's really that simple. A good musician is not neccesarily the most accomplished 'player' per se, but one who does all the things that it takes to get the music DONE. This means showing up on time, giving 120%, keeping a productive attitude, doing all of the other less fun things that allow you to make records and play on stage.
