Ha! Good one.
It's not that they (we) are idiots, it's that since so many people play guitar, there is tough competetion, jealousy and insecurity going on at the amateur level. Even I as a kid had a serious ego. But once you become a pro, you realize that pros are not into competing with others, but just trying to make some music. Plus, the energy it takes to say 'this guy sucks, that guy sucks' could be much better used to make your own music better.
