Hey, Marty
I´m a 17 years old brazilian guitarist, and a real big fan of your music.
You know, although my country has great musicians, heavy rock music and intrumental is not very apreciated here (by most of people), so most of great bands and players find several difficulties to"hit the lights", in a major label.
That said, it does not take a genius to realize that most of well - known musicians happens to be north american. So I was wondering what's your opinion about that...I mean, I'm sure everybody in every country has trouble getting famous, but do you think that people in USA may have an "easier path"? Are they blessed by nationality somehow or they are just really good? Am I just speaking bs??
Anyway, thanks for your time, dude, and make sure you keep rockin' !!

That's an interesting point you have but look at it this way. By your logic, If an American wanted to be a professional tango dancer, they would be better off in Argentina where there is a lot of tango going on. But in reality if he went there he would just find it that much harder because the standard of quality would be higher than the US and level of competetion is stiff. Same thing goes for rock music or anything else. It would be easier for you to stand out as a fabulous rock guitarist in Brazil where there are not so many players than in the US where everyone and their brother plays music and the competition is that much tougher. My point is, there is no "easier path", and wherever you are, it all evens out...Best of luck. |
