  QUESTION:

hey marty,

is it easier to hit it big as a guitarist for a band or being a solo guitarist?
i mean, it's incredibly hard to get band members with the same amount of skill i have, and it's even harder to get together. it also seems just as hard to be a solo guitarist. Even if being a solo guitarist is easier, do you think you could give me some advice for making a band?

thanks

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

Depends what "hitting it big" means. Rather than "hitting it big", you have to decide what YOUR contibution to the world of music is and what kind of music you wanna make. That said, being a solo guitarist is unbelievably limiting as far as the size of your audience so unless that's what you absolutely really want to be, I would say just try to join as many bands as you can until you find a good chemistry. Joining an already existing band is a good thing to try. Best of luck to you.
