No one is more important to me than the fans who have supported me throughout my career. Although I wish Dave and whoever is involved nothing but the highest success, I think that it is better for me to sit this one out now than to lie to the fans and act like Megadeth is what I really whole-heartedly want to do right now. I owe it to the fans to be honest.
As a matter of fact, that is one reason I left the band in the first place. I felt like I was taking the fans' hard earned money playing songs that didn't represent me at all. I mean, although Megadeth's music is great, you can get any guitarist to play "Darkest Hour" or "Peace Sells". But in the 21st century, it doesn't have to be me. As a rock fan myself I understand how you feel and I know it totally sucks when your favorite bands change members. But I chose to be honest to myself and the fans about what it is I want to do.
