  QUESTION:

Hey Marty,
I wanted to add to that question that was just asked. I agree with you when you say that to be discovered you need to create something different, new. Something that will catch people's attention. Well my teacher Terry Syrek (he wrote the book 'shred is not dead' and also did the VHS/DVD that comes along with it) has created some of the most unbelieveable music there is. His playing is truly amazing, from the slow melodic lines of Joe Satriani to the extreme speed shredding of Michael Angelo, he is truly unique. So here is a guy who has created music that is completely revolutional and he gets no real big fame for it. Is shred dead? Do you think new people can break into that music genre?

If that's the case I can just go out and buy Joe's and Michael's albums then. What is 'unique' about sounding like 2 other guys?

That said, I heard Terry's playing and my jaw dropped to the floor. He is truly amazing. I would say if you want to hear an example of a great guitarist, check him out.
