  Title : Japanese influence

  QUESTION:

Hi Marty, in a world were most people feel that playing faster is the way to be different, listening to your playing has really opened things up. Your eastern style has really inspired me to incorporate world musical influences. I would just like to know what sort of music you listened to and what you would recommend to help incorporate that some of the japanese stylings into my playing. I love a lot of the japanese ideas ive heard in soundtracks and from your music. Thanks a lot for any advice. Nick.

What world is this??
You're already on the right track. Soundtracks have fabulous music in them. If you like my music, then analyze that and take the bits you like and make them your own. Try going to Chinatown or any other ethnic area and buying cds completely at random and see what you get. You may be pleasantly surprised.
