  QUESTION:

I want to ask you a question about your totally unique style of playing guitar. I wathched your right hand while playing solos with highly distortion and gain level... I don't get it... it seems that you're not muting the lower strings with your palm. How do you manage to have zero noise ? Do you mute with your wrist ? Is this one of the reasons you don't usually use floyd rose, because it forces your right hand in a position you can't efficiently mute the strings ? You gotta admit that you have one of the strangest right hand positions. I 've never seen any guitarist with that picking style. Did anybody inspired you to play like this or is it just the way you alone discovered the guitar ? I hope you answer this because I think that's one of the major style particularities of yours and I think any guitarist who admires your playing would be intrested in this. Thanx for the answer but , most important, thank you for the music. By the way, do you like ABBA ?

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

I created that picking style in a subliminal effort to avoid muting notes during solo or melody play. As with anything, if you do it long enough, eventually you will get pretty good at it. And, yes I'm a big fan of ABBA.
