  Title : Ibanez SZ

  QUESTION:

Hi Marty,

It mentions in Marty's Faves that you have and enjoy an Ibanez SZ. I was surprised because being a modestly priced guitar I figured it was more for players of my caliber rather than yours. Was I mistaken in thinking that a 'keeper' has to be a $1000 or above guitar? Should I keep mine? =)

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

With all due modesty, I could play a $25 guitar and make it sing. I think people who waste a lot of money on guitars with fancy woods and inlays and 100 switches on them are wasting their money. I've got a bunch of them too and you know what, all you really need is a good solid instrument that will take a beating and stay in tune. That's all. My SZ just made it thru 10 days of brutal gigs doing my solo music without a single problem. I would suggest reevaluating what you look for in a guitar, you may be pleasantly surprised!
