Hey Marty,

Just wanted to pick your brain about Yanni.
Saw the Metal Sludge thing which was very cool. Was just suprised to see such a strong reaction towards Yanni. I'd agree that comparing him to the great Kitaro is a no no, but is he seriously that bad?

I personally love how the entire band seem to really get off on what they're doing with the faces and stuff - rubs off on me when I watch them play, and I feel really happy as a result.

And, they really tear it up during some of those songs, particularly Karen Briggs on violin, who plays many "rock licks", as well as more singy traditional violin licks. Ya could say that Karen isn't Yanni, but having someone play these amazing things over useless music would be noticable. Maybe it's just me, but it sounds very right and complete when I listen. They have "duels" during some songs where they basically cut heads, and it's AWESOME imo.

I'd admit that some of the shows are a little "preachy", but at least the message is a positive one - we could use a lot more of that in today's environment.

Anyway, I'm not saying anyone's right or wrong, and I imagine some of the other users would laugh at me being a Yanni fan, but it's all good. Just wanted to pick yer brain about it.

Thanks for your VERY HEALTHY response to a difference of opinion. The only thing that ever matters is that YOU (meaning whoever is reading this) enjoys something. I may like the sound of radio static. Everyone is different, that's what makes the world fun. And there is no need to explain or defend your opinions. They are what they are and enjoy them!!
