The reason why the Japanese always get bonus tracks is and please take note: In Japan, the US (imported) version of a cd costs about $17. The Japanese (domestic) version of the same cd costs about $30. The Japanese record company would not sell a single domestic copy if there were not some kind of 'extra' included in it, and they require their foreign (American, European) artist to give them anything-demos, rough versions, songs that didn't cut it for the final lineup, whatever. They also add extensive liner notes and in some cases many photos not in the US version. It has nothing to do with the artist 'favoring' a particular territory. It's strictly business and has been this way ever since Japan has been selling music from foreign artists. |
