  QUESTION:

it's an honor to write to you, marty! i've been playing with my band live for some time now. it has been like eight years or so, but we still play very small places only. i don't know about the other guys of the band, they don't discuss this stuff, but i feel a bit devalued as a musician for playing small places for so long and so frequently... it seems as i haven't accomplished much. i often read some wise views of yours and i know (seen pics) you've played tiny venues and colossal stadiums as well. many thanks in advance! pietro

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

Playing music for anyone is a privilege. People are busy and if they find time to listen to your music, it`s a great thing no matter how big or small the venue is. The value you should have as a musician is not how many people show up to hear it, but how much you love the actual music you play. Good luck.
