I've been playing guitar for about 15 years. I've never been interested in theory or really fame for that matter. I really play for the challenge and personal satisfaction it gives me.
My dad is a passionate blues player. When he hears SRV, Jimi, or several blues players, he feels it! He can relate his life to the energy coming from their passion in the piece.
I can play several blues songs note for note. I don't feel them though. When I listen to your playing, especially your classical/romantic style phrases in your music, I feel it!! I feel classical music! When you play a note or series that really takes you away, what time period of music, or events in life are you channeling through your playing?? I love classical music, but its hard to find anything to play that's not so linear. I want to channel my own love of classical energy through my own rock/metal style playing. Any ideas, thoughts?? What period or place in music is at your core??

Believe it or not, the only period of time that I ever cared about is the late 50`s-early 60`s pop music. Doo wop, ballads, rock and roll, girl groups. early R&B. All the real music (IMHO) happened back then. That is at my core. But I play a very aggressive metal interpretation of that so when you hear the "romantic" motifs etc. that`s where it may have came from. Best of luck to you. |
