QUESTION: |
|
|
Hi Marty, I'm writing you this because I need your help with something. You see, I'm working on my graduation project and the subject for this is the influence of classical music in metal, more specifically, the work you did with Jason while you were in Cacophony composing the Speed Metal Symphony album. What was the point of connection between you and Jason at the composition of the songs musically speaking? I mean, the music influences are different (as far as I know) between you and Jason but still, the connection in the songs is really awesome!. Help me with this, is really important for my project and the info will be invaluable.
Greetings from Colombia! |

MARTY'S ANSWER: |

I wrote most of the music for SMS before I met Jason, but once we met, I saw so many delightful things in his playing. As a producer, i selected ideas of his and added them to the album. He had unbelievable dexterity at that time, so I would write music accordingly, knowing that even if I may have a problem playing a phrase, he could play it easily. That gave me lots of freedom to just go crazy while writing the music. As time went on, Jason became one of the best composers I ever heard. Good luck! |
