  QUESTION:

Hello Mr. Marty. はじめまして。よろしくおねがいします!My name is Adam and i'm from Poland. Believe me or not, but You are my biggest inspiration in guitar and Your music theory approach really changed a lot in my life. I study japanese for two years now, and i've got to say i know this and that (just finished the てverbs and know approximately 500 Kanji's). My problem is i have a little "breakdown" in studying - i do it more and more rarely and don't feel that joy like in the beginning. I'm sure You had something like this in Your studies and just wanted to ask - How did You got through this? It would help me a lot. Thanks You for spending Your precious time and wish You everything thats best 先生。 ありがとうございます。

  MARTY'S ANSWER:

As in music, there is only so much learning you can do by yourself. It is much more beneficial to speak in Japanese and write in Japanese with other people. So if you can, find someone to talk to, and/or get in some Japanese chat rooms on the net and type away!
